Desserts, Sunshine, and Jesus! A Day Full of Sweet Blessings 💛

Some days just feel like little love notes from God, and today was one of them. It started slow (because let’s be real, this backwoods country girl does not bounce out of bed every morning 🤭), but it didn’t take long before the Lord filled my day with sweetness.

We had Oakie and Honey for a few hours while Brandon worked at home and Taylor was off at her job. Having that sweet girl around brings so much joy to my heart. Oakie and I kicked off the morning with Bible Study (she’s already learning that time with Jesus is the BEST way to start the day 🙌). Then, we decided Grandpa needed a treat, so into the kitchen we went to make Pineapple Fluff. Oakie felt like a big girl holding that mixer all by herself! And yes, there may have been one tiny “spoon lick” incident, but we pressed on like pros. The finished dessert? Totally delish. 🍍💛

For lunch, Oakie insisted on frozen pizza, so frozen pizza it was. Sometimes, that’s just how you roll when you’re making memories with your grandbaby! Afterward, I worked on a few bookmarks (a little creative therapy always fills my cup). Then came my God-sighting of the afternoon: an hour stretched out on the “tanning chair” on the back deck with the sun warming my skin, and His creation singing all around me. I closed my eyes and just whispered, “Thank You, Lord.” A dip in the pool after that? Pure heaven.

Dinner was easy-peasy! Leftover ribs from last night, dressed up with a can of corn (because you know I had to spice that up a bit 🌽🔥). Kevin and I sat down, and every bite reminded me how God’s blessings can be found even in something as simple as reheated dinner.

Of course, the fur-crew made their presence known throughout the day. Jackson strutted around like he was the head chef, Whiskie offered her silent-but-judgy stares from the couch, and Felix made sure order was kept in the house while Oakie was here. I always laugh and say they’re my little “God-appointed guardians,” keeping watch over me, reminding me to slow down, and adding joy in their own quirky ways.

Now my eyes are heavy from the sun, my belly’s full from good food, and my heart is overflowing with gratitude. Days like this are just little reminders: God is in the details, the laughter, the sunshine, the desserts, and even in the quiet moments when the house finally falls still.
