From Rescue Missions to Grilled Corn Miracles: Just Another Tuesday at Johnson ranch

Whew. Y’all ever have a day where your feet hit the floor early, and then… suddenly it’s bedtime? That was today. And let me tell you, it was full of everything from grilled goodness to holy rescue missions. 😉
I got up early and hit the ground running. Like, no breakfast… no lunch… not even a sip of chocolate milk! 😱Jackson and Whiskie were both appalled. Jackson glared at me from the corner like, “Um, excuse me… YOU forgot to feed YOU?” (He’s very invested in meal schedules, especially mine.) Whiskie just curled up in my laundry pile, probably praying over the chaos like a proper little, black-furred angel.
But Jesus and I? We were in it together today. 🙏The kind of day where the to-do list is long, but the grace is longer.
I got lots of organizing done. Boxes shifted. Plans made. MEOW goodies stacked and restacked. We are SO CLOSE to launching new things that I could do a backflip! (Okay, I’d pull something, but the excitement is real.)
In the middle of it all, I got a Courtney Call.” You know the one. The “Hey… are you home… can you…?” Of course I can. Because when your people need you, you go. So, I threw on shoes, yelled “Hold down the fort, Jackson!” and zoomed off like a slightly-less-graceful Wonder Woman. 🦸🏻♀️️ (Only my cape is a MEOW Box flyer and probably stuck to a sock.)
But the best part of the day? Dinner with Brandon and Oakie. Kevin grilled hot dogs and corn on the cob (because that’s how you end a Tuesday right). Oakie told me she needed “the red ketchup," her love language is clearly condiment-based joy. She even sat beside me for a mini–Bible Study moment, and I nearly melted. Watching her little eyes light up as we read God’s Word together… y’all. THAT is the kind of holy fire I live for. 🔥💗
As the sun sets and the dishwasher hums, Jackson is finally satisfied that his mama is still alive. Whiskie is asleep on top of my planner, as if that will keep me from overworking tomorrow. Smart cat.
And me? I’m ending the day worn out—but filled up. Grateful for grilled corn. Grateful for rescue missions. Grateful for a Savior who walks with me in the ordinary. He was there when I sorted the chaos. He was there when I sat with Oakie. He was there when I almost cried over the laundry. He always is.
So, if you’re running on empty tonight, remember this: You’re not alone. God sees you in the middle of your mess, your errands, your holy hot dog dinners. And He calls it good. 💛
Now… I’m off to refill my water bottle, cuddle a cat (or two), and probably fall asleep before I hit the pillow.
Stay tuned, friends… you never know what’s coming next from the land of MEOW.
With love from the grilled side of grace,
~ Melissa 🐾✨
